Monster Cake

Here's another 1st Birthday Cake. (lots of 1st bdays this year!) This is a monster themed cake and the plate/napkin I based the design on are below. The top tier monster is cake and is going to be removed to be a 'smash cake' for Baby Alex. The smaller green monster is also cake so it could be used for that purpose also.

Happy Birthday Tammi Cake

Okay so I just finished this cake which is for the sister of a friend from Dog school. She gave me free creative license and just said that they wanted her age (37) included along with her favorite colors (red, green, yellow & orange). So I tried a new technique using the 'happy birthday' fondant imprint mat and was fairly pleased with the results. Also tried another new technique (and when I say 'new' I mean new to ME) by using candy melts to adhere my fondant bow instead of fondant glue or icing. My goal is to try a new technique with every cake I do so I keep learning. The one thing I learned from this cake is that if I really want red, i'm going to have to invest in a lot of dye or start buying the pre-dyed red in the store. This red came out a bit pink (and my camera makes it look even pinker). Since she is traveling a bit with this cake to the party location and I won't be onsite to set up, I opted to attach the streamers on toothpicks instead of icing so it can easily be disassembled/reassembled.

Jungle Cake

This is a cake I made for a first birthday party that had a Jungle theme.
It is a 2 tier/stacked chocolate cake with vanilla frosting, covered in fondant. Cake was decorated with fondant details, a piping gel pond, plastic animals, and palm trees made with fondant, royal icing and pretzel rods.

Aidan's Second Birthday Cake

For Aidan's 2nd birthday they did a western/cowboy theme. I printed a photo onto edible rice paper and applied to the cake. I tore black fondant and applied for the cow hide look. A rope border was done in brown to look like twine.

Birthday Bow Cake

This was a simple 2 tierd round cake I did for a teen birthday. The requested theme was colorful and trendy. I played off of a two color combination of pink and orange circles/dots and ribbons.

Booty Cake

This was a birthday specialty cake for a friend who had recently vacationed in Jamaica. I was told that she really liked Jamaica and the "Booty Man'' song by Tim Wilson that was often playing during thier trip. So of course I had to make a booty cake. I made this with a heart shaped pan (upside down) and then cut off the point. I made the bikini bottom with fondant and applied shimmer dust to the green portions to create a bikini material shine. It's hard to tell from the photos, but I also did some texturing and forming on the nude portion to replicate skin texture.

Dog Agility Cake

The Dog Obedience School I work part time at had an Open House and I made a cake for the event. We do Agility training there so I used that as the theme of the cake design. It was a 2 tier/stacked cake (note: my first attempt at doing a stacked cake) covered in fondant with fondant borders and decorative details. The name and logo were hand drawn.

I had to include a version of my own dog, a Rhodesian Ridgeback into the cake.
You can't see it from the front angle, but I did had a little ridge along his back. :)

The rest of the pictures are close ups of the agility equipment I created. Everything was fondant except the weave poles and the legs to the pause table.
